Headliner installation on '53 Packard

HI to all,

Two questions:

My first is on the headliner that I'm installing on my '53 Packard Clipper Deluxe. 2665 two door club sedan. I have a problem, the parts that hold the headliner around the door jams - the drivers side parts were missing when I removed the original interior. The passenger side parts I still have but all the points are rusted off. Here's a picture of the passenger side. I'm trying to figure out what I can use or where I can find these parts. I bought the headliner already fron Kanter Auto Packard Sales. I had an interior shop look at it and quoted a price of $800 to install headliner even with the headliner already purchased. I'm sure I can do it myself if I can find the parts. The windlace should not be a problem.

My second question is on the rear back glass, I got a new rear glass seal. Does the locking strip go on the inside or outside? Does anyone have any recommendations for how to install the lower back glass reveal molding where the clips need to go through the rubber to attach to the body since the rubber molding does not have holes for the studs to go through on the clips.

Thanks for your help now and in with previous questions.
Joe

PS: I know you original guys are not liking some of things I'm have done but the car is almost original and I'm treating it like I'm a teenager and just got it from my dad and we'
re hot rodding it.

you have not chopped it up beyond repair, so i think your do'n ok! i love the car ! keep the pics coming! the holes for the molding will need to be drilled into the rubber. putting that trim back on can be one of the worst parts! with out looking at my 54, i can't remember for sure which side the "zip" strip is on. however, i think it is on the outside. the copies of the service manuals here on the site will have proper steps for glass r&r in them. check it out and see what it says.

The locking strip in 56 rear windows is on the inside. I would think that 54 would be the same. I cut a four-inch piece of old antenna, sharpened one end carefully on a grinding wheel and mounted it in an electric hand drill. I used that to section a nice small hole thru the rubber gasket and inner seal(locking strip). I had my son lay a pencil inside so that I knew exactly where to section the stud holes. That worked well for me and cut out a nice small hole. I thought a drill bit would chew the rubber too much.

The name of the paint color is Spectra Blue Mica paint code 8m6. It's from a Toyota 2009 Prius.

Thanks for the ideas on the weather stripping. I will try that.

The reason I asked is that it looks similar to the color I am painting my '54.

now that blue looks good too. the blue that i used has a lot of pearl in it. i would ask what color your using but if it is not one of the big three that are not fully owned by the U.S. now a days. you may get some flack over it.

still no ideas on the headliner pieces i am looking for.
