Whose axle did Studebaker use? If they used Dana, perhaps it was another step in the effort to consolidate suppliers. Aside from not having to produce their own axles, expect having all come from the same supplier would have also been another quantity per unit cost saving.

The Dana limited slip was an added benefit in having something else to offer the customer. I expect there would have been some patent and licensing issues if Packard had tried to adapt that to the older axle and make their own.

The carb is scheduled to be re whatevered by a legitimate expert. Waiting for bumper and parts to return from chroming, then carb....

Salt still on streets here and don't like to go out when the car isn't properly dressed. It embarrasses her.

Then a new headliner and welting and I hope I can still afford gas, given its meteoric price rise....
