I will do that, Owen. Yep, the original glove box is still in place, as evidenced by the amount of dirt and dust living in the bottom of it. May be a good sign though, if nothing else in the interior has been disturbed either.

Troy, I don't know who you were speaking with at the Studebaker Museum about build slip availability for Packards; if they had suddenly located a trove of them back to 1936 that would be news worthy of major headlines - but alas that's not true.
I spoke to Barb today in the museum store; she confirms that there are no new additions to their inventory, they have Packard build slips (production orders) only for 1955 thru 1958 and not all models in 1955 and 1956; for example the 1956 Caribbean build slips reside in a private collection.

Owen- I sit corrected. They have Stude back that far not the Pack's. You are most correct.

Thanks Tim! I got very lucky with this one; did a carburetor rebuild the other day (you don't want to know how much mud was in the bottom) and actually came across what looked like a strip of rolled-up paper with the engine number on it. Just about disintegrated in my hands, but no other information was visible so I guess that's the end of my quest. Plenty of other things to keep me occupied for sure.

I just found my build sheet or what was left of it. It was on top of the glove box as has been reported here. I reached in there and first I found just a corner piece still attached with yellowed masking tape. I was so disappointed but kept feeling around and found the top strip still attached with masking tape. It reads 2262 H 22820 EMC OD WSW FSE SW 66..
O K is marked in red. Does anyone know what WSW FSE SW 66 stand for? THANKS

H = exterior paint (Agate Blue Metallic, dropped 7/49
EMC = Electromatic Clutch OD = overdrive WSW = white sidewall tires FSE - fender shroud equipment (rear fender skirts) SW = steering wheel, plastic. 66 = upholstery material (gray/blue broadcloth with gray and blue stripes) EDIT: Agate Blue Metallic paint discontinued 7/48, not 7/49 as I said above.
