Guscha: Like PackardV8 the least picture you posted is something of real beauty.

Did you know that the Russian government under Czar Nicholas in 1915 order a fleet of 300 Series 3-38 Packard Touring Cars. Along with the order for the cars 600 trucks were also built by Packard and shipped to Russia.

ok. so it IS possible to pass from Alaska to Russia via common wheeled land vehicle. The following are attempting the journey on 60 year old Nimbus sidecar rigs.

kccd.no/home_en.html

quote from above website:
"In 2006 we took the quick trip from Oslo to Singapore. This time we'll ride from Norway through Siberia to Alaska, then down through North and South America. A boat will take us to South Africa from where we'll ride up to Europe. Time of departure is April 2009."

Not exactly Packard or Zis/Zil/Chaika related but it does give rise to new ideas about maybe going to Russia for scrounging vintage tin. Especialy for someone like me that does not like to fly nor float.

Guscha. I did not read as far thru the the web site as u did so i missed the part about sailing to Anchorage.

BUT, let us consider the picture u posted.

I appears to me that there is still a lot of green land east of Magada. Then a small white area (ice?) and then green land again on the Alaska side. Just cross the short iced over area with the motorcycles. No???

Also note that there is Russian motorcycle called a Ural. The Ruskies copied either the BMW or DKW motorcycle.

The Ural sidecar outfits have a drive shaft that also drives the side car wheel. Great for crossing the ice at the Bearing Streights????

Back to the pic of the car with the 3hree bladed proppeler (only 2wo blades showing).

Look near the right front fender. There is what appears to be the front tip of a snow ski sticking up out of the snow. I don't know, but it appears to me that the car was set up for crossing deep snow or across ice. Equipped with a rear propeller and snow skis. Kind of like an Everglade boat.
