Do you feel a new set of stiff shocks would solve my problem without doing anything with the springs? The car doesn't appear to ride low now, but with back seat passengers, it will bottom out over bumps. With two in the front, there is no problem.

Standard shocks don't change ride height or load capacity of springs, they only affect rebound and compression. Shocks with booster springs are an option, but really the best way is have your springs serviced.

Where would one find correct fitting shocks with a spring assist?

A good spring shop should rearch your springs, install new sliders and bushings for around $200 bucks.

Coil overs will cost nearly as much and air shocks will cost more. This is one of the many cases where it is better and cheaper to do the job right.
