None of my cars have electric pumps and start just fine using the stock (rebuilt) mechanical pumps even after sitting for a couple months each time between visits to my Oregon shop where they are located. A properly sorted system won't get vapor lock and will always have enough fuel for a spurt or two to get it started.

For me, the main issue is the battery and keeping its electrons moving in the bitter Central Oregon cold so I keep them disconnected and charged using a 100w solar panel on the roof!
