Sorry, but I couldn't resist.
Now all you need is a a chrome-plated Darrin badge, and you've got the only Darrin coupe known.

Might as well two-tone it while you're at it. It lowers it a little bit more.

Looks good West, pity they didn't make Darrin coupes, very appealing.

Although I don't know about the two-tone colour choice. Doubt my colour consultant, the wife, would approve.

EDIT - Added pic of a 41 coupe here in OZ, pic courtesy of HeatherM, with the delete running board option.

Years ago I tried to obey the instruction to engage the OD while in motion. As a result I believe I tore up some of the gear teeth in the process. The OD continued to work but after a couple of years it went south. The unit was then rebuilt. The only way I will engage or disengage the OD is when the engine is idling and with the clutch depressed. So far no problems.

One of the two-tone combinations in 1941 that I always thought was specially elegant on both open and closed cars was the Chicory Green over Grove Green, both metallics - shown here on the ex-Bob Turnquist sedan at the 2009 CCCA Grand Classic in NJ. Same color combination as my first Packard, a 1941 120.

My experience exactly! I heard that grinding just once, quickly aborted the maneuver, and have never revisited the factory instructions on how to operate (at least in practice).

That is a former Harrah car, and is equipped with factory air conditioning. Did Marano keep that after he bought the Turnquist collection?

Yes, a former Harrah car and with factory A/C. I don't know if Ralph kept it or not, but I'll try to remember to ask him next time I see him.
