In my case the man with the gearbox and O/D unit also has the driveshaft (propshaft over here) so no probs. there - but I have chickened out on this conversion.

The costs FAR outweigh the savings I'll gain on petrol consumption etc.

If you swap out a '50 and back 3spd with a '50 and back 3sp O/D you shouldn't have to do anything, as the transmissions SHOULD be the same length. It's only when you use the longer '51-'54 transmissions that you run into problems.

If Chad (Greendragon) ever gets off his butt and brings me that bathtub o/d trans for my '48 I can verify this.
