Owen,,the hassock foot rest you are showing, isn't that the kind that were in the 48,49, and 50 Packards'?? HA, HA, I found out the info,,,on page 548 of the book "PACKARD A HISTORY OF THE CAR AND THE COMPANY" it states and I qoute,"standard equipment, included Ultramatic, cloisonne wheel cover medallions, individual hassocks for rear seat passengers, etc;".
so anyone that has the welded angle sheet metal must of had at one time the floor hassocks,, wow,,feel better now that I found this out,,thanks for all of the responses and I guess we all learned a little today, I will have to email the seller of the 51 and see what his response will be,,, now about those 400 badges??

Ted, I'm confused, are you refering to the swing-away long footrest as shown in my 34 Packard, just ahead of the hassock and going nearly the full width of the compartment? That's a different item than a hassock; I don't know the last year for the full-width true footrest, 1939 would be my guess for production bodied cars.
What my 48 and 50 Custom 8 had, and I think all the bathtubs did, was a recess in the lower back of the front seat, just above the floor, that was carpeted and was as a footrest, but it was a fixed portion of the front seat.

Owen, you are right my mistake as far as the swing away, I thought on the 48,49 and 50 there was also a foot rest but it was stationary. As far as my last reply it should have stated Ha, Ha, boy am I stupid for not looking in the old books I have.
The 51 400 that I am looking at is said to be original and in the pics I have received from the owners son there are no individual foot rests and the 400 badges are not showing. I have to email him and find out more info will let everyone know as soon as I find out.

Here is a photograph of the interior of my 2652 Derham. Carpet color and fabric match the hassocks, you can see the plywood hassock construction on the driver's side. The bottom of the hassock is a ribbed black rubber to keep the hassock from sliding around. Night and day difference between left and right side due to driver's side windows letting down at some point while in storage.
I can make more photographs and take measurements early next week if you need them.

Hi Stephen, yes, please if you have the time the measurements would be great, in case I cannot get the proper info from the seller it seems like these could be made and the just have carpeting placed over them. Thank you for the photo and for the information,,,ted

Ted,
I was able to do it today. Here are the measurements and construction photographs. I photographed both left and right hassock in my car because of the water/ humidity damage to driver's side so you can see the assembly and carpentry along with the carpet seams. There is no left or right hassock. Both the same thing.
