Retorqued the head. pretty much spot on. Checked for combustion leaks-negative. Had the water pump rebuilt with modern bearings and seals. Filled the radiator about 25% antifreeze and water wetter.

Drove home about 17 miles. Never got above halfway on the gauge except the steep hill on the climb to my house and only then a little past halfway. It was only 65 and I didn't hit any real stopped traffic though I did hit some slow rush our traffic where it was a little stop and go. The gauge stayed below half most of the time even when climbing highway hills or in the stop and go traffic. on flat surface it would drop to about 1/3 gauge.

We'll see has it does when the weather gets warmer.
