Thanks, Dave. I think you're right. Somewhere I have a picture of that item & must be where I remember it from.

G'day Charles, bede63,
to PackardInfo and for taking the time and trouble to post the link.

If, by some chance, you own a Packard I invite you to include it in the Packard Owner's Registry here on PackardInfo.

Did. Vent shades too. That was one well optioned car. Front and back glass looks intact as well. Shame if it goes to the crusher as is.

If the rust is as bad on the frame & floor as it is on the lower fenders, poor thing will probably break in half if picked up. Kind of unusual rust on the bottom of trunk lid and hood edge. We don't see that kind of damage out here. Wonder if the piece below trunk lid was removed or rusted away.

Thank you, Mal (Ozstatman), for the welcome. I indeed do have a '49 Eight which I will add to the Registry on this site.

I hope someone will step up and save the worthwhile parts from the '56 Pat in Saugus MA.

Are those a pair of rear antennas too? That was one magnificent beast when it was new -- sorry it's come to this sad fate.

It's interesting that with all the extra cost options the car does have, the PB trans was not one of them.

Charles,

It'll be us thanking you when your '49 is in the Registry. There can never be enough Packards in the Registry!

I wonder if Mike Dullinski might be interested to add to his stable of donor Packards?

Normally I don't speak for others, but having been involved with Mike over the years, I would say it is far enough gone for him, but it is to far to go for him even if the price was remarkably low.
