Thanks, Todd. Beyond the call of duty. This will help a lot in getting these on right. I colorized the splashers. I think I got all of them.

Looks like you have it figured out. If you need more picks let me know. I cannot remember for sure, but you might be able to slip the drivers side on and off by taking apart the drag link large screw taking apart from there instead of the steering gear arm. If you do that make sure you have a drag link socket and don't scrape the female threads when taking off or on. You might need a large tap to rethread. The manual has a section on bottoming out the springs and screw then backing off.

Do you have the front part splasher, I think there are three parts to that section?

I have what's in the photo in Post# 1022. I hope that's all there is.
Which manual has there description? The 160-180 Owner's Manual? I'll share what you've said with the mechanic. Thanks again. I'll take some pix with it on the rack.

In the owners manual under steering rods towards the end of booklet. The other parts I might be thinking of go between the front of the radiator and the front shell

Will try to look tomorrow, but there may be a third part that connects the front of the two splashers and helps to stabilize the front portion, but I could be mistaken.

FROM THE ENGINE/FENDER pan. thread:
"The splash pan situation on 16th series and later Packards never ceases to amaze me because servicability seems to have gone out the window." "I did some work on an 18th series car where they very neatly cut the pans in two. Why it took Packard until 1941 to do that mystifies me." "Anyway, what you need is a Lisle brand pitman arm puller which you can get at the auto parts store or on Ebay." "On my '41 180 I disconnected the drag link from the pitman arm & took out a couple shifter links before I could get that *%#@ pan off. ( This was with the car jacked up & supported on jackstands. )" SPLASHER MODIFICATION? Since I'm taking these to a body shop to weld and patch, I'm thinking they should be modified for easier installation and removal. Just how were they "cut in two"? How is the '41 or '42 different? (Just asking, Guys. Inquisitive minds want to know.)

No cross piece for the right and left splash pans. Thinking of my 1939? Yes let me know if work anything out for the driver side splash pan for easier removal.
