With the seats where I left them last time, this is how I looked sitting in the car: (pic taken by me, so you only see my legs!)

So, I decided to move the seats back a little so that the pedals are in a comfortable position: (pics taken by the wife, she arrived just in time!)

Now that I'm sitting comfortably in the car, there's one slight problem, the steering column's STILL too short!!!
Looks like it's time to do the column extension!:

This is the reason why I'm wanting to know the distance from the dash to the steering wheel on a '33 or '34. I have a feeling mine's going to end up at 10" from the dash to the wheel along the column. I can't use the "Willys" cowl I have because it's the same distance from firewall to dash as the Maxwell, pretty much. So, I have a plan to angle the dash a little to take up some of this, but not so much that it looks like crap. Stay tuned for the next installment!

After a nice chat tonight with Mal and Al, LOL, Mal came up with an idea so simple, it's purely BRILLIANT!! And here it is: Why not cut off the pedals where they arc, and shorten them? Sounds good to me, and moves them back the required distance to get me to "fit" into the body a lot better, and should solve my steering column dilemma. To get an idea of what we're talking about, I dug up this photo of a Miller race car showing the pedals, and Mal's idea for my car is essentially the same thing:

This weekend I plan on doing some measuring and head scratching to determine the correct amount to remove from the pedals, but I really do think that this is the best idea. Thanks again Mal!! Just don't try to talk me into making it RHD!!!!

Tonight's work entailed me measuring and I decided the best thing to do was cut 8" off the arc of the pedals:

Then I mounted the pedal pads on, after grinding and redrilling the holes:
