Per the owner's manual, that is the correct operation. Which i never understood why you wouldn't automatically want the dash lights come on with the headlights.

So I wired my dash lights as such to come on directly with the headlights.

I used the now free position on the three-way under dash swtich to turn on my back-up light.

Also, I wired an aftermarket underdash light which comes on with the map light. Being a convertible with no dome light, this makes the interior way brighter when you need it.

Great, thanks for the info., guess it's working as intended. It is a wierd setup having the switch in the left position to have the instrument lights on but it's all working so thats good! I also wired the original 1937 radio in the car yesterday and it is working as well, sounds good!

I've got several 1937 Paint Chip sheets from different paint manufacturers and one thing I've noticed is that most of the greens have darken due to age for some reason. Some of them almost appear black.

I know there were three greens offer: Almond Green (metallic), Hickory Leaf Green and Coachman Green.

Any idea which color this car is?

Exciting, scary and wonderful all at once.
The best part is all the bolts are already freed up!
Have fun.

Of the three I'd say its closest to Almond Green, but identifying colors from images, whether silver halide or digital, is a uncertain endeavor. If it's of any help I can post a recent silver halide color print of a '36 120 convertible painted in PPG's Almond Green.

Yes, actually replaced with new, unrusted fasteners during Phase I.

At least this time I know how everything comes apart.

Most of the shiny parts are now safely tucked away in the finished basement. Since I purged all the Jag parts at Hershey, there is now carpeted, climate controlled storage.

Also the convertible top assemble, trunk rack, lights ,etc are all down stairs.

I'll also pull the seats and interior panels over the next few days. All wrap dash in plastic to keep everything clean. I'd pull those panels as well, but I want to keep the car movable under its own power if needed and I really don't want to deal with pulling the temp gauge tubing back through the firewall two more times. At some point my luck is going to run out with it.

The lower body skin directly behind the doors is pretty rotted. Which is fairly common on these convertibles when leaks develop.

The front fenders are still a bit rough and need some serious massaging. The rear fenders are better, but have some rot in the area that bolts to the rubbing board.

The hood needs attention. The left hood side has cracks on both the front and rear edge where pivots. I also think there maybe a piece broken off on the under edge. So may have to figure out a way of reinforcing those edges. That "hinge" design was not one of Packards best efforts.

Thanks Dave, that would be great and most appreciated.

I like Almond green. But I keep telling myself, if I pick a non-metallic color, I could possible paint the car myself. Especially since there are so many parts that need to be painted off the car to get full coverage.
