Once you have the exact dimensions, a Google search will likely pull up many sources. I did see quite a few places that stock them but I did not look at details because I had none.

Howard, I had thought I had seen photos of your shift bracket that you talked about a couple post back before but when I went looking for (also checked your Blog besides searching the Forums) it I couldn't find it or maybe I had just imaged it. O'well moving on.

Well I did another stupid thing, I didn't realize the washers on the Shaft Idler Lever are not metal and are some kind of fiber material that breaks easy when cleaning the grease off them. So far I need two, I didn't learn after the first one broke.

So getting everything else cleaned up, grease was caked on pretty good. I'm also posting photos of the bushings.

Thanks for posting the bushing dimensions. I remember now it was the .310 and .648 OD that caused the difficulty. .648 is just enough larger than a stock 5/8 bushing there would be slop in the lever holes and the .310 is just shy of being a stock 5/16 ID. A stock 5/16 ID bushing might be useable unless there is a lot of wear on the rod ends but the other dimension seemed a bit dicey so the reason I made my own. Not sure of the differences between bushings but there are other part numbers for other levers.

I don't remember any fiber washers on mine but that does not mean a lot since it was obvious wear and people had been messing around with the assy long before me. There is a regular steel washer next to the cotter key and a spring washer either top or bottom of the bushings to act as anti vibration at all of the rod connections. There are something called friction washers at the idler center pivots above and below the idlers on the round shaft. Is that where you found fiber?

If your spring washers are what crumbled, McMaster has some that should work and they also have a selection of phenolic or fiber washers and maybe one could be found with the correct ID for the shaft.

Yes Howard, the fiber washers look to be part number 3.302 and they're labeled WASHER IDLER LEVER FRICTION. They look to be almost 1 1/8 inches wide with the hole about 1/2 inch and about 0.04 inches thick.
Thanks for the information on the spring washer in McMaster, I'll have to check it out since one on the washers looks in pretty bad shape.

I was just thinking maybe I could use gasket material to make two new washers with. Just a thought.

Wes, do you have a Grangers store nearby? They have a wide variety of materials including rubber, paper and other types used in industrial applications.

Thanks JW and Owen, after looking at the friction washers I was thinking maybe gasket material would work and I was willing to give it a try, so I made three. Then I got a text from Mark Graber and he said he had ordered some from Graingers and had a few left over that he could mail to me. So I just wanted to give a BIG shout out to Mark Graber to say THANK YOU!
Also thanks to all for your help, without you guys, I don't know where I would be.

Thanks Wes for the kind words. It has been a couple of years now, but Max Merritt sent me a kit containing the bushings and some of the washers needed to rebuild the shifter. Might be worth a phone call to see what they still have.
