THis 54 Convert is breath taking:
packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=4627&cid=56 Note the green top. Was such a grreen convertible top offered by Packard???? In all my years i do not ever recall a green convertible top on ANY car.

Yes, a green folding top was available for 1954. Check the parts book for details.

Not nylon. I believe they were "Stayfast" or some type of a woven fabric not unlike Haartz cloth.
UPDATE: Speaking with some others, most of us believe 1954 was the last year for a "canvas" type convertible top. 1955 and 56 were a synthetic (but certainly not nylon), perhaps a multiple layer job of cotton inside, a Hypalon interior layer with a vinyl top layer. If Leeedy chimes in, he may have the best information.
