Those are some impressive projects Ross, well done! Do you do the design work yourself? The lines on the 51 Packup work really well. And my "big" project right now is trying to give my original carpet some new life.

How long did that hand drawing take?

Back in the days of pencils and triangles I was a very good draftsman so I still love to get out my 50 year old equipment and do up a proposal for a customer. That probably took 2 1/2 hours to draw accurately to 1:10 scale. I have them copied in black and white and then color them by hand to the customer's request. The original proposal was pale silver with dark green highlights, but they have now settled on the pale silver with dark blue.

The customers love having a rendering to take home and it makes a very relaxing evening for me.

Interesting. Much faster (and better) than I could do; they did not teach us hand drafting when I was in school, and instead we used CAD software. I find CAD to be better for new production, and especially for things like 3D printing CAD is a necessity.

But I still find that having some decent hand drawing skills, and being able to sketch half-decent profile, iso, and sectional views is invaluable for communicating ideas at the first stages of design, and also for reverse engineering or modifying purchased parts for which original drawings are not available. Of course, your drawing is certainly a fair amount better than "half-decent", but even with my rusty drafting skills it's still the route I would prefer for a comparable situation.

P.S. Love the look on the maroon "Packup". I remember still discussing it at your shop around a year ago when it was mostly done. Certainly has come a long way! And the new design reminds me of this Patrician.

I do like the flatbed look and function. I didn't "get it" for a long time about those until I discovered that there is no gunwale to lift stuff over, which adds an exponential measure of practicality.

Maybe one day at Wat's Anvil Refugee Camp . . . .

If you're not having fun, maybe it's your own damned fault.

I'll have a pickup for swanning around but for actual work a flatbed is unbeatable. In a couple of minutes I can have an engine block loaded and strapped down. The other day I got a whole pile of Ultramatics and we used the back for a giant workbench to strip them down.

I would love to buy one or two of your drawings as I can't afford the vehicles themselves! Did you make one of the maroon Packup? All are beautiful but that one is especially so and I like the earlier Flying Lady ornament it has too.
