Thanks for checking that out.
I thought it was strange to have 2 different pans and an extra screw for the cast iron vrs the aluminum case.

I wonder why the parts book had it listed that way?

I don't get Packard..

They when out before they could update ..i guess.

Parts book saids one thing ..manual saids other.

I was looking at valve bodies for trans..only difference in 56 I see is the low high shift valve.

And the Caribbean has one different spring. For 56.

It's important to remember that the Parts List and Service Manual were in print before the cars ever hit the dealer's showroom. So you additionally have to rely on the Service Counsellors and Technical Service Bulletins to have the full picture on what was actually produced.

A lot more differences in the 56 Caribbean transmission than 1 spring, as I recall there is a TSB that itemizes them.

Dave.

Another one of my gripes. The repair manual you buy. should have all those service letters. Dealer letters.

Like the torque for the aluminum case.

What's the difference.

That reactor shaft was locked tight..

These are sedan torque converters.

The Caribbean is not a Caribbean converter.

Tail shaft bearing can this be a sealed bearing. Pre lubricated ..type...would pretty much stop oil from going out rear seal.

Or does the seal need oil for lubrication.

Fyi. Edit

Those converter parts are for a sedan.

The 55 carribean are a sedan torque converter.
