A quick post.
Pics of my AC bracket for 56 Executive with 352 V8.
NO, the flat base steel does NOT have to be anywhere near that thick.

Crude yes but IT WORKS!! Black bracket/tensioner assy on top of 4x4 steel tube is production 84'ish Toyota.

Red lines point to bolt holes that line uo with OEM FILTER mount holes in LEFT head.
Yellow points to T'stat housing bolts.
Vagenta points to mounting bracket for OEM filter cannister. Used somekind of a engine mount bracket cut from a spare frame. IIRC it was a DOdge PicUp frame.

Ignore chrome brackets.
