This part is left over after installing my new Master & I expect that it's purpose is to keep the E brake cable away from the unit? In any event, it is deformed and it's exact mounting is a little unclear. A search through the on line shop manual hasn't turned up anything.
Might someone have a photo or drawing?

I think your decision to install a dual or tandem non-boosted brake master cylinder in place of the BTV unit is an excellent one. Yes, you will lose power brakes, but my experience is that standard master cylinders work just fine and there is more pedal modulation. I had the BTV removed from my 55 Clipper Super and had a standard single Packard MC installed. It provided good braking, but only had the one chamber. Yours will be better, and safer. Plese keep us informed.

I am an AMC guy and that master looks like the part that AMC used on the mid-sixties Rambler Americans. The single bolt cover and ports on the right (and correct) side are the clues. That part should be available new over the counter at your local parts store. I wouldn't bother with a rusty copy like the one shown.

Update time!
The new engine has about 1700 miles on it, runs strong, smooth and oil consumption is tapering off. 2 oil changes so far. Had the tires rebalanced and the ride smoothed out a good deal. New shocks are on the way. The trip to Kalamazoo for the Packard meet in June went pretty well and I will attach a photo. From the feedback I received, it appears that my hubcaps are '53 and the air cleaner could be '57-8 Chebby? Other shows that I have attended have been some local cruises and the Hot Rod Power Tour in Madison. After all the effort, the feedback is rewarding. The car always draws positive reviews. Tomorrow it is up to Elkhart Lake to check out the Concourse downtown. Can't wait!

A very nice brake conversion! Looks like it would be easy to adapt to my 51. Did you have to install a proportioning valve on the rears?

Here's the Napa number and part. Looks like it was used up to 1970 on the Ambassadors as well as the American models.

2200 miles so far & I have just mounted up a driver's side mirror. On a whim, I picked up a couple "Gypco" brand repops for '50s Chebbys and that should hold it.
Installed 1 front shock tonight & it was a chore. Usually a gas filed shock has a strap holding it compressed for easier installation but I had to use a bottle jack to compress it! Stiffest shock I have ever seen. It was also about 2" longer in over all length but it's too late now :) The old Monroe has a huge piston usually found on HD trucks, wow. Way to make 'em. Interestingly it is marked Monroe Equipment Co. Must be an oldie? Part # 7893.
