Did everyone read the PI article in post #38 on page 2wo of this thread?????

How come none of the BTV fanciers take issue with PI's article and the comments about the rear seal as well as cracking of the master cylinder body???

The master cylinder bolts to the frame rail. I believe the ultramatic linkage mounting point is on the bolt nearest to the firewall.

This is what the master cylinder looks like. You can see how it bolts through the side of the cylinder. The side you are looking at would be against the framerail. Looks exactly the same on the other side. The pressure switch, distribution block screws into the far end not visible.

I don't know about Packard. But the frame rail mounted master cylinders among other makes can often have the 2wo mounting bolt holes at different distances from each other varying from year -to-year or model-to-model.

I had a lot of trouble with this on 1943 thru 1965 Jeep vehicles and a few others along the way. iN one case, the bolt holes were only 1/16" closer together and there was not enuf meat there to file/elongate.

Here is a shot showing the master cylinder mounted. You can see the linkage point. I don't think the bolt was all the tightened down at this point.
