There was a photo posted of the fenders in the paint shop. It looked like they were on some sort of support that held them at an angle. What about some 2x4s to make a sawhorse or A frame cut at a length the fender top is at a convenient height with enough width it lays the fender at an angle where you can get to everything at the bottom without too much bending or kneeling. You could work from both sides and also sit on a low stool if there was body work to be done.

I built 2 of these out of 2X4s to support the fenders and doors. Added wheels to roll around. Can be folded up to store. Inexpensive to male and have used on multiple cars.

I have been spending most of my time sanding on the body lately. I'm also repairing rust on my 87 GMC truck so I can sell it in the spring. They are sitting 4 feet apart and I go back and forth constantly.
Started cutting on one of the fenders this week. Replacing some rusted out areas and still have more to do. I did repair that brace the outer skin, I just forgot to to take a picture of it. The piece in image 3 & 4 will be a little trickier to fabricate. I'm concerned about recreating that lit of the wheel well. TI have no special tools for fabricating. Just hammers and metal blocks but I'll figure it out. After cutting on this 400 for a few years I am not afraid and anything. Been doing my part and staying home for 9 month and have not been bored a single day.

I am nearly done with the left side fender. Rebuilt the whole lower portion from scratch. I'm not going to cut out all the pitting that was under the side trim. I am just going to cover it will a thin layer of filler and move on. I have to keep this project moving forward and not get bogged down in the extra stuff.
The right side fender is in worse shape. The lower section is worse there a little rust in the front and some impact damage in the front lower section as well. I'll start with the dent next week and then move to the rust replacement. On another note. When I disassembled the 400 I took hundreds of pictures to help me rebuild. Well, true to Murphey's law the harddrive they were all stored on died on me. I sent it out to a company that can restore the data but they want nearly $1600. I can't justify that expense as long as I have you folk's to help me out.

Looking good on the fender! That is a definite tricky spot with the wheel lip. There's a guy I watch on youtube - fitzee's fabrications. He does some major body repairs with basic tools - he might have a video or two on wheel lips and such, worth checking out. The hard drive crashing is unfortunate. I'be heard some folks have had success placing the hard drive in a sealed ziploc bag and in the freezer for 24hrs and then attempting to get the data off..

I can possibly help with the data recovery if the drive spins up and is not physically broken. I do data recovery as a hobby. Anyway, a good lesson on why backups are so important.

Thank you, I should get the hard drive back next week. I'll reach out to you after the first of the year. I not sure if it spins or not to be honest. Its a small external drive. Stewart
