Here is another view of the woodwork. This should be pretty dead on the original layout and size.

Missing would have been a plywood panel attached to the two front diagonal supports behind the seat.

Since I have a split front seat and want to maintain access to the rumble seat foot well as a second trunk, I will have plywood on the sides (between the supports and the sides of the body). The middle portion will remain open.

All of the boards along the bottom support the side cardboard panels that finish off the rumble seat area. These boards were just nailed in, as there is evidence of the small nails used along all the existing wood, as well as small pieces of the original black cardboard-like panels.

All this wood was cut out of that large piece of Ash I purchased a while to make those folding B-Pillar posts.

I need to remove the fire extinguisher that was last filled/inspected in 2007, as that area will be enclosed and inaccessible.

Understood, the cheek panels will cover that area.
A very good spot for it with you having the split bench seat though.
Hey, could you make a bracket that allows the extinguisher to mount on the back of the passenger side of the split bench?
It would be out of the way for general access through the driver's side yet easy to get to in an emergency behind the passenger seat.
If you mounted the bracket so the cylinder fit low, close to the floor on the seat back it would keep the centre of gravity the same so as not to cause the seat to change its natural drop into an upright position. I know it is not original but a very practical safety improvement.
I am still puzzling where to put one on mine as I have the regular seat so it will likely have to mount on the cheek panels in the rumble seat compartment accessible when you open the lid.

All the wood is done except for the cheek panels. Just need to give everything a coat of paint.

With it open, what gives the body side to side structural integrity? Is there an X-member farther back?

The stuff I added today removed all the b-pillar area flex and stiffened everything up.

Originally there would have been a solid sheet of plywood behind the seat.

The is why I added extra beefy wood under the package tray that it bolted into the body structure wood.

Vince set over the a few pics of the progress on the front fenders with fixing the wheel arch cracks.

Here is the fix on "easy" fender.

The other one needs much more work.
