I Figured that since my 400 was a project it would be best to move over to the project section.

As some of you may know I work for Fred and Dan Kanter, I currently work in thier marketing department. Before coming to Kanter Auto Products I worked in the industry restoring all types of antique and vintage automobiles. So vintage cars have been a passion of mine nearly all my life.

Now back to Packard I purchased, I bought the car from Stu Blond he had owned the car for many years and had purchase the car back in the 80's in California. My current plan is to get the car in mechanical order and then attend to the body and paint. This is my first Packard and I am very excited on bringing it back to life.

James, congratulations of your Packard. You might want to confirm this with Stu but as I recall this is the Packard that was used to pick up James Nance for his appearance at a Packard National meet.

I haven't had much time since the holidays are in full swing. But I did find sometime this past weekend to remove the power brake unit.

<a href="http://s671.photobucket.com/user/JamesRFrom/media/Packard%20400/NCM_0174.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i671.photobucket.com/albums/vv72/JamesRFrom/Packard%20400/NCM_0174.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo NCM_0174.jpg"/></a>

As you can see the unit is in rough shape but with some work I will have it good as new

With the days short and the nights long and cold here. I try to remove parts that I can take inside and rebuild as my garage has no heat.

My plan is to set one goal/task a week and try my best to accomplish it. So this week is the power brake unit. The hardest part was the disassembling of the vacuum section the inner guts had fused itself to vacuum can.

Through the week I have taken the unit apart piece by piece cleaning each part and inspecting. I glass beaded the can and master cylinder portion and lightly honed the bored on the vacuum canister. I will be used one of Kanter Auto Product BTV rebuild kits in the rebuilding process. I will also be replacing the original piston with a brand new stainless steel one.

Thanks
James From

Finally found some time to finish but the BTV unit back together. The reassembly went back together smoothly. I will be testing it at work on our machine before putting it back in the car
