Hello Gents,
I'm looking at my vibration damper after an engine overhaul and wondering how I can tell whether I should replace it or not. Haven't taken it apart, but from what I can see of the rubber showing on the inner hub, that rubber is hard and flaky. Good idea to replace it?
Thanks.

Hi Mark,

I don't know what kind of car, but if you can get a new one then buy it.

Otherwise, using a timing light check the timing at full advanced rpm. Then gun the motor. If the timing mark starts moving backwards the damper may be loose.
