Very much like a 1956 Packard

But the Dagmars are not aligned with the headlights, like the 55, but are shaped like 56 Mercury Montclair.

Take away those awful chrome caps on the fender peaks near the headlamps and the front end would look like a perverse update of Teague's beautiful 56s. But then the windshield curves look like a mix of the 56 Studebakers crossed with an Imperial. The rest of the car looks like an update of a Henney created by a committee of Cossacks. Maybe they took lessons from spies at the studios of the 58 Buicks who thought the more chrome, the better. Imitation is the final Packard compliment it seems. If there are any unloved ZILs running around the U.S., would they look out of place at either the PPG or Warren, OH?

I like the Zil 111. No more gaudy than any of the US cars made in the late 50's or early 60's. I like chrome.

Keith,

I believe Gerd, Guscha, is keeping a low profile. Still has his finger on the pulse at PackardInfo but not actively posting.

I'm wondering if there is an eBay and Craigslist of Russia so we can keep up with what's going on over there in the Packard, Zis Zil etc world.

Keith, thanks for asking. Warm greetings to my friend in the Whiskey Hell community of middle Tennessee. As Mal said, I try to keep my finger on the pulse at PackardInfo.

Quote:
"...awful ... perverse ... created by a committee of Cossacks ... unloved ... out of place..."

Let's curtain the ugly THING. To lurk behind a curtain is usual to Soviet cars, anyway. In order to increase the effect we could throw rotten tomatoes at them.

The rarity of information (not to mention real cars) fuels the development of prices. In view of the extraordinary expense of just a worn piece of cheap two-color leaflet with one monochrome photo, a purchase intention threatens the domestic bliss and requires a preliminary decision of the family powwow.
The seller highlighted the following attributes and deficiencies:

- paper size smaller than letter,
- clearly recognizable "patina",
- in Russian,
- numerous stains,
- severed along the folded edge,
- two stamps of former owner,
- one of the four shown copies for sale,
- related envelope isn't part of the auction

Winning bid: $ 98,77 (? 89,-) plus shipping

Don't get me wrong. I enjoy the free market economy.
