Good Morning All,
A fellow Packardite (new to the fold) queried me about whether '48-'50 Packards require that the water pumps be packed with grease to keep them from leaking.
This is a new one on me. Apparently someone told him that and he questioned me about it. Anyone ever heard of such a thing? I figure if the seal is shot, it's going to leak no matter what is put in it. Thoughts, abuse and head scratching welcome!
I'll check service bulletins when I get a chance.

Packard water pumps with external oilers or grease cups were long gone by 1948. And for those earlier pumps with grease cups, the grease lubricated the bearings and was not present as a seal.
