I was recently contacted by Carol Mauck ,through Dr Bob Malstrom, to see if I was interested in the CDs and Zipdrives of scanned Packard material that Fred Mauck had collected over the years.

"Of Course", I enthusiastically said Yes!

When I got there, she asked me if I would be willing to take all the of his Packard library material for donation to PackardInfo. "Of Course!" I said once again!

So I spend about two hours going through Fred's collection and loading the car. I was careful to not take the material he had that were related to Packard International (reprints, magazines, his Packard tips newsletters, etc), as I didnt want an issue with stepping on their toes.

Some of the highlights of the collection:

-Service Info, and lots of it from early 1900s till 1956. So this will fill in lots of the missing holes we have in services letters and counselors.

-Zone and Trade letters

-Large leather bound tabloid sized binders full of original Packard advertising from 1899 through the end.

-Bijur Diagrams

-Frame Engineering Diagrams

-Nearly every patent diagram that Packard filed with the US patent office

-Brochures

-Owner Manuals and Data Books (very early and late)

-Internal Packard documents and engineering notes

-Fabric Samples

-and much, much, more.

As you can imagine this will take months to sort, organize and scan.

Thank you, Carol, for making Fred's collection available to the greater Packard community!

Here are a couple of pictures it loaded in my car (enough weight to make the lean in the rear), and of it temporarily piled in my guest room (much the chagrin of my Fiance), until I can sort and store properly.

Also a couple of historical pieces:

Hugh Ferry's personal leather-bound notebook/diary

And unused "Mrs JW Packard" personalised stationary, with preprinted return envelopes with imprinted pre-paid postage ( 2 cents! )

I am sure there is more in there as well. Exciting stuff!

I met Fred and Carol at Hershey a few years ago, lovely people.

We are indeed fortunate that Carol saw fit to seek out Kev and donate this palpable portion of Fred's Packard collection to PackardInfo for the benefit of the Packard community at large. Thank you Carol for your generosity and thank you Kev for undertaking the huge task of making it accessible on the Website.
