Just wondering if anyone knows a bit of background on Jim Nance's wife and family? What was his wife's name? Was she an accomplished hostess during her husband's Packard years? Did they have children?

They must have had children.

During the planning stages of the 2016 PAC Henry B Joy Tour we planned a driving tour that would have taken us past the Nance vacation home and his gravesite in a local cemetery.

Then the HBJ Tour morphed into the 2016 PAC Traverse City National Meet and that got cancelled.

Their vacation home is available for rent and you can live like a president for a week if you want to.

Does it include the opportunity to call off the deal with Studebaker or do I have to pay 50 millions dial back fee?

Nance's wife, Laura Battelle, was born five months before JJN was, in September 1899. She died in 1977.

I wonder if there is any connection to the Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus, Ohio?

That's a different Battelle. Laura's father, Louis Gordon "L.G." Battelle, was born in 1866. He became the first Certified Public Accountant in the city of Dayton, and remained active in business until his death in 1957. Laura's mother, Annie, married L.G. in 1887 and raised two sons and two daughters. She died in 1940.
