I ran a couple numbers through the vin decoder and I have some questions. The cars were in the collarcityauctiononline website. Item 34 vehicle number 1472-3307. When i put the number in the decoder says outside valid model production sequence. I checked the number it seems correct. Is there a problem with decoder or me. Item 39 vehicle number 1442-2241 . The add says 160 the name on the side of hood says 160 decoder says 180 I noticed the hub caps also look different. Was there a model between 160 and 180?

body style 1472 is the 160 touring sedan on the 127" wheelbase. many parts shared with the junior touring sedans. 1442 is the 180 touring sedan on the longer wheelbase.

there is a 160 touring sedan on the same wheelbase as the 1442. there is not a 180 sedan analogous to a 1472

I don't have an answer to your first question. To answer your second question, no - there was not a model between the 160 and the 180.

Somewhere there is a timeline graph of all Packard models that can be useful to look at when having these questions. I don't remember where it is though.

'55 400. Needs aesthetic parts put back on, and electrical system sorted.
'55 Clipper Deluxe. Engine is stuck-ish.
