I am working on a 1936 120 convertible coupe. No tag. I have an old Alabama title for the car. the vin number states 99931762. Understanding the number of 120s produced in 36 i would assume this to be accurate. 999-31762. However I have never seen a plate with more than 4 digits after 999. Would that number be correct on the original plate. Or am I missing something. Any help would be appreciated

Paste or type 999-31762 into the Packard Decoder in the left navigation and it will tell you more.

Something is off on the number, 999 is right for a 1936 120 convertible coupe, but the next number has 1 digit too many.

Apparently total production was over 50k for that year, but I think that number may be for all 120's?

'55 400. Needs aesthetic parts put back on, and electrical system sorted.
'55 Clipper Deluxe. Engine is stuck-ish.

That is what i thought. But upon further research i have found other 120 cars with 5 numbers after 999. which makes sense with a production run over 40,000. as an example note image

Yes, but that's for body style 992 (without looking I'm guessing 120 touring sedan).

It is on a touring sedan. But knowing these were assembly line cars i would assume a convertible coupe could have been produced at any point in the run.
