I'm looking into purchasing a stainless steel exhaust system for a 1937 120C. I see one vendor supplies a muffler and resonator and another vendor supplies just a muffler without a resonator. Any comments on which is the better way to go? Obviously the one without the resonator is less $$.

The factory setup was muffler and resonator, which made it quieter. I got my exhaust system from Waldrons, and it had both.

One note - apparently stainless steel exhaust systems can have a "tinny" note and may not be as quiet as conventional systems. I've not observed that personally, just heard it.

Good luck!

Also, they make a ping-ping-ping noise when cooling down.

Even a new steel system on one of these cars will probably outlive most of us since they are not driven as daily drivers in poor weather.
