Trunion Springs 1928 -533

How hard is it to change the 533 front Trunion springs? The manual indicates that it is a relatively simple. I have never had much luck easily changing my springs.

Mine is currently off the car. Easy to disassemble. I hear compressing the springs and aligning the shackle bolt for assemble will be the hard part.

I just read a Packard Service bulletin suggesting taping the two center spring holes in the upper and lower housings and using a long bolt to draw the two halves together. I think that will be my plan. This might avoid marring freshly painted bracket housings.
