The older we are the less important all the names. Who was Mr. U Nu? Sorry, Mr. who?
Ok, there was a time in our history he was at least important enough to be the cover man of the Time magazine in August 1954. But that is more than half a century ago ...
Don't know if I'm the last man on earth who is interested in reading the old stories but, however, today I would like to bear in remembrance that once the Soviet government presented two ZIS cars to the Prime Minister of Burma U Nu.

Not to be confused with Hu Jintao, President of the People's Republic of China.

Hu? U Nu.

We could have the start of an Abbot and Costello routine here.

Who's on First?

The older we are the less important all the most of the names.
When we go through the Asian Who's Hu the man on First should probably be Mr. Hu Jintao. He was sweet fifteen when the pic below was taken. It shows Mao (one of the predecessor of Hu, who was on First until age 83) and Mr. Klim Voroshilov (who was last time on First until age 88...) at the begin of Sino-Soviet split.

"...Since 1956, the countries had (secretly) been diverging ideologically, and, beginning in 1961, the Chinese Communists formally denounced "The Revisionist Traitor Group of Soviet Leadership." In the 1960s, this intellectual divergence became critical, continuing until the late 1980s -- yet was rendered moot with the USSR's collapse in 1991. Their doctrinal divergence owed as much to Chinese and Soviet national interests, as with the r?gimes' interpretative Marxist ideologies..." [wikipedia]

Meanwhile you know such kind of pictures, taken in Moscow. This time we have to change the zipcode, since the pic shows a military parade in Beijing.

Norodom Sihanouk, two times King of Cambodia, two times its Sovereign Prince, one time its president, two times its prime minister, one time even its non-titled head of state and a couple of times in numerous positions as leader of various governments-in-exile ... but for us a passenger in the backseats of a ZIS. Until 1960s even Packard cousins had King size.

BTW He is alive, at the moment The King-Father of Cambodia and has an own website.

A road scene in 1957. The car coming in the opposite direction and equipped with a crossbar looking front bumper isn't a French Simca but its Chinese portrayal.
Do any of you know the function of the back window arrangement?
