We had an early "spring day" yesterday in England and so my Packard made its first appearance into the open air since October last year. Winter has been a busy time with me carrying out the following jobs;

- Repair crack in manifold and re-fit
- Re-chrome front and rear bumpers, overriders, rear lamp housings.
- Oil changes to engine, gearbox, differential, driveshaft
- Repair cracked cast iron driving lamp brackets
- Remove, repair, recolour and re-fit all leather upholstery
- Replace carpets
- Re-wire lighting, remove modern switchgear and replace with steering mounted original switch
- Repaint bumper carriers, rear light stalks and rack
- New oak slats to the rack
- Refit glass to rear windshield

I only have to tidy the wiring to the rear lights and re-fit the refurbished trunk rack then we are set for a run out. Maybe next weekend if the good weather here holds out.

I finally finished the refurbishment of the trunk rack on my '30 Phaeton.

The frame had lots of cracked paint on it but after blasting the surface was very pitted. The paint shop had it for over 3 months but the result is excellent.

New American Oak slats replaced the old ones.

A big public thank-you to Tom (Packin31)for providing me with new stainless steel fixings -they look great!

Ken,

The truck rack looks great.

You are most welcome for the fixings. Did you polish them up at all or did you just leave them the way they came?

Enjoy your ride.

Hi Tom,

I had planned to polish them but in the end left them as they were. I'm really pleased with the result - many thanks
