I find a "33" stamped on my differential carrier at the 2:00 position... does that mean a 3.3 : 1 gear ratio?

The standard ratio for the 22-23 Series was 3.92 and with overdrive 4.09. I think the Ultramatics were 3.54 so no 3.3

According to the figures in the previous post (my body being a 2211), I should be looking at a 3.90:1 gear ratio. I have a 3 speed overdrive transmission.
Tonight I marked my driveshaft with chalk, and did the same with my LR wheel. I rotated the wheel and counted both the turns of the wheel and the driveshaft. The wheel turned twenty times to forty-two on the driveshaft, to bring both marks back to the starting point. Now I would have expected to find something close to a 4:1 (3.9:1 to be exact) ratio. This is only 2:1. What am I doing wrong? Maybe I should have turned the driveshaft itself?

If yours has overdrive the ratio would be 4.10 : 1.
I seem to remember that the differential with one wheel off the ground changes the count. Hopefully, someone else will give you a better Idea. If not, try getting both wheels off the ground and see if that makes a difference.

4.10 - Yes, I stand corrected. Thank you! I looked at the right number and typed the wrong one. Go figure.
I did have both wheels off the ground when I did the turning. Perhaps I should have just had the LR wheel up. I'll do it again tomorrow evening.

If you only have one wheel up you turn the wheel twice in comparison to one revolution of the driveshaft. For an overdrive car I think your differential ratio at 4.09:1 -4.10:1 is correct.
