Hey Bob,
I have a '54, and when the springs peeked thru, I was able to find an exact match at Bill Hirsch in NJ...I went over there and was really surprised and impressed with the selection and variety (and originality) of what they had, I'd recommend you cut a piece from the two colors and send it over, it might be easier than you think to duplicate.

My redneck interior seat covers. lol I found some real nice material for the seats. Dark blue leather and dark blue matelasse pleated. The weather will be in the low 5os this weekend, so maybe my buddies and I can work on the ultramatic.

Nice work!
Were you putting that material on the individual springs, or taking it off? What exactly is that stuff, anyway?

Its burlap over the springs, next I will put cotton or foam over that, then seat covers. I will sew my own seat covers. I have a industrial sewing machine. I did everybody's custom cars back in high school upholstery shop. My brother had auto mechanics, so we learn from each others trade. I'm better at upholstery than knuckle busting. Here is a sample I did in high school. Maybe I should do the packard this way, NOT. lol

So, you did all that cool tuck and roll stuff that you see on the fifties customs? Pretty neat! I've always wanted to learn how to upholster- now I need to know! I guess you can't use a Kenmore sewing machine like mine to do auto stuff though.
