Where do I obtain one of the license plates with the cloisonne insert, like the one on the two-tone custom super clipper below?

I think Bill Hirsch is still selling the emblems. If so, just bolt to your existing plate holder.

Don, I believe they are replicas of the wheel cover centers. My Custom Clipper has one mounted in the center of a wings emblem. Quite nice looking. Maybe Hirsch has those too. A previous owner did the one on mine, and I don't know where he got it. Here is a photo for reference. Good luck.

JW, that's a very lovely car!! I've got a friend who's been looking for over a year for a really nice 46/47 Custom Super Clipper - there aren't that many around that are as nice as yours appears. If you know of any that are available in similar condition, PM me please.

Thanks guys for the lead. I'll check with Hirsch, and see if I can get some wings also.

If anyone needs it, I have the bumperettes and the faceplate for the license plate. I do not have the winged base for the cloisonne' emblem.

Nice looking Custom Clipper. Hard to tell, but it looks as if the carpets are a different color than the seats and door panels. Incorrect air cleaner and oil fill-breather cap. Plus, no fan air blast tube. Still a very nice looking car.

That's weird. It appears that picture 15/15 is of a completely different engine compartment (1940?). The other two photos of the engine compartment seem to be correct.

A very nice looking '47, and the price is reasonable.

Perhaps photo 15/15 was taken at a different time, and hence the lack of the blast tube and different oil filler cap (looks like the breather cap on the electromatic clutch. Other things I noted, when compared to my bone-stock 47 LWB, 2 backup lights instead of 1, and spare tire cover (probably a product of new carpet). From the photos I can't tell much about the carpeting, but its probably not mosstread, as was original. Also, I think the driver side mirror should be attached to the door trim, as opposed to the clip to the door.

Have to say these are extremely minor problems (real or imagined). The true test will be how well it runs and drives.
