I have been trying to find a replacement to our Chat software for sometime now. While the Flash Chat is a nice looking interface, it's buggyness and ability to drop messages all time is really a pain in the butt.

Also I think the Flash Chat would never let Randy connect.

So anyway, I hooked up a new Chat Room software. It's not as "pretty" as the other one. But it should get the job done for chatting. Randy let me know if it works for you. I should be on later (8pm PST), for anyone interested in trying it out.

Chatroom doesn't work for me here at home. It worked for me when I tested it at work earlier, but that was a Windows machine, and I'm on a Mac with Safari at home. Don't know if that's the issue or not, but it doesn't work on Firefox or Camino either.

I fixed a corrupt file. So hopefully that should have done the trick. Not sure if we are going to go with this one or not. Just a test phase right now.

Did you try IE or Safari. Trying to see if it's a browser specific problem

I put the old one up also. So you can continue to use the normal chat room, while the "Test Chat" room is up also.

Ok instead of finding a new chat room, I just hacked in a second optional client. So now you can use the "Full Feature Chat" which is the normal Flash-Based chat client. Or the "Lite Chat" which is the AJAX based chat client. Both clients take you to the same chat room. But just different technology clients. So if you have problems with the Flash version, feel free to use the lite version. The light version hopefully should let Randy get on as for some reason his computer never liked the Flash version.

It doesnt matter which version you choose, as it's the same chat room. So which ever one works best for you.

Let me know what you think. By the way, the Light Version is a "Hack" so is what it is. But it should work ok for normal use when the Flash version is giving you fits. Mal and Eric and beta-testing it right now for me.
