On my 1931 super 8 , there is a jar on the firewall with a line to the intake. It has what looks like Marvel Mystery oil in it. Is this what is supposed to go in there? With the engine running, you can see steady drops going to the intake.

Sounds like an aftermarket item, an upper cylinder oiler. It's of pretty dubious value on an L-head engine but nevertheless an interesting little tidbit of auto history.
