Hi
Can someone please tell me the correct torque setting for tightening early series (126) Single Six cylinder head retaining nuts.

Thank you

Bj.

Torque specifications were still some years in the future at the time of your car. A good recommendation could be made based on the thread size, so how about measuring that first. I suspect it may be 7/16-20 in which case I'd go to about 60 ft-lbs. Torque in a spiral pattern, starting in the center and going side to side, front to back, in 3 increments (20, 40, 60) and retorque again after about 1/2 hour of running, again after a few hundred miles, and again annually.

Thank you O-D
That is exactly the information I was looking for. I initially torqued the head nuts up to 50 and again after about half an hours running now I can take it up to 60 after some more running time.
