picture of a nice young man in a white coat using one.
Always nice to hear a happy ending. And you didn't need the white coat!

Howard - an update on the oil seals. Checked with NAPA, they had one in stock, the other one crosses to an application for a Mack truck and available in KY, so they had to special order. Checked with Kanter, their kit 4 seals plus gaskets was much cheaper and incl. the gaskets. The other thing is I know I'll be getting the right parts. I 've used napa for some stuff in the past but I guess it doesn't hurt to shop around. Having said that, even if it cost a little more I'd prefer to buy from a small business that supports our car.

Totally agree and if there is a kit available without having to buy a lot of extra pieces or not have a long wait for shipping I go for it too. Some have wanted to buy just a single item or two or not deal with shipping. Since you asked for Napa xref info I mentioned what I had.

Got the seals from Kanter and am finally getting around to putting it back together. Slid the axle in and then tapped the outter bearing race in place, however, I didn't think to pay attention to what it looked like before I took it out. After tapping the outter race in, it seems to stick out from the axle flange about 1/16th. Is this correct or should it be flush with the axle flange?
