I have a 1948 series 22 and would like tho know if all 22 series have turn signals. I can not find a signal flasher on the back of the instrument panel. Also the bulbes on the rear only have 2 fillements per bulb. There is only 1 bulb per tail light. I all need to know if anyone can rebuild the heater value. It sticks through the fire wall and has 2 hose hookup.

Turn signals were standard on most 22nd Series Models except for the least expensive Eight.
The tail lights for cars with turn signals had 2 separate bulbs with the extra one used for the turn signal.
There would also be a turn signal lever on the left side of the steering column.

There are rebuilders of the heater valves. Here is oneheatercontrolvalve.com/ and there's probably more who advertise in the services section of Hemmings.

I don't know for a fact if the early valves use the same rubber piece as the 51 on valves but maybe someone on site does. If so and you want to attempt it, Napa sells the rebuild piece for later valves for about $12. When Kev rebuilt his he wrote up some excellent instructions and posted them in the how to section.

Under what Main Menu heading will I find the "How To" section? I need to repair my heater valve also.

If it won't move, get a bigger wrench.
If it breaks, it needed fixing anyway.

Literature and Manuals, then at the bottom of that page, How to and Tech tips.

Here is the article on the 51-6 valves. As mentioned on another thread, while the main seal appears to be the same as used in later valves, the 48-50 valves still may be different and need additional seals. If you do tackle yours please let us know any differences you find from the photos in the instructions.packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/article/view.article.php?253

Thank you. When I do pull the valve out I will take pictures and check for differences.

for heater control valve redo. He was reasonable (I don't remember the cost) and very fast turn around. It works great.
When I called him on the phone, he knew actually what my valve looked like without describing it. I have a 23 series Deluxe Eight. I used him in Sept. of 2008.
