I have a 38 jr clock but as I recall the mechanism isn't the electro magnet type - When I get a chance I'll pull the back off the sucker and check it out.

I just found out yesterday that the 38 packard clock we are trying to repair is a Geo. W Borg clock D183934 movement. Now if anyone has a pictures of that movement it sure would be helpful

There's more than one basic mechanism and shape depending on size and style of clock. Packard didn't really identify by a Borg number. Here is a 46 Borg round style which appears to be identical to the prewar clock posted earlier. Probably similar to what you have but then maybe not. Pictures may not be enough detail but it's a working clock so don't want to tear it apart farther.

The contacts close and pull the wind arm even with the end of magnets. That puts tension on the straight spring which starts to pull it back and provide the "spring" to the clock. As the spring pulls the wind arm near the slack end of it's arc, a pin attached to the wind arm moves the "Y" shaped piece just above it and snaps the contacts closed. The magnet energizes and almost as soon as the wind arm starts to move back toward the magnet end it snaps the contacts back open.

The photos I posted the other day are of a Borg clock.

My 38 Jr clock has jeager stamped on it.

The plot thickens, at least to my initial reply. My NOS in the box 38 clock was manufactured by Westclox, Lasalle, IL. Regardless, the original poster has a BORG clock.

Thanks for all the replys and pic. my father inlaw has the clock and i won't see him until next weekend, will have to wait until then to see if the pic help as he dosen't have a computor. Until then thanks to all

Thanks to all that replied to my request for help regarding the 38 Packard clock. Speacal thanks to Forum Ambassador for the detailed pic, from these we were able to make the missing part.
