I found the second video. The firewall i.d. plate reads 1599-2972. It clearly has push out vent windows.

And extremely rare, as those look like proper 1942 180 hub caps. They are slightly larger than the 160 and 120 hub caps. It also has the proper 1942 top taillight lenses. All in all, a nicely put together car, but with that one major skeleton in the closet.

There are two 1942 model 1599 (120) convertible coupes listed in the Motor City Packard registry. I have seen both and coincidentally, both are finished in Cadet Cream.
Both cars have the same style hubcaps as seen in the video Both cars have the senior tail lamps with proper 1942 tops Both cars have the same senior front and rear bumpers While I now there are some differences between the 1941 that I am familiar with and the 1942 models, but I would like to make the following observations: ? Data plate with 1599 says 120 junior to me, not 1579 as a 160 senor model ? Push out vent windows = 120 or 1599 ? Steering column is painted body color, should be dark tan/brown ? Welting material surrounding speedo dash plastic is not authentic ? Flat dash plastic was for 160s - 120s had horizontal grooved dash plastic ? Dash is painted, that was for multi-tone interiors only and matched the lighter color of the upholstery. Therefore, dash should be woodgrained in burled walnut ? Chrome knobs on dash are wrong, they should be in plastic to match and starter button is first knob to the RIGHT of the steering column, not on far left side. ? Red clutch rubber signals ultra-matic transmission - maybe, maybe not in this car ? Radio mast mount is aftermarket/incorrect - Packard approved accessory calls for a, single, "speartip" shaped mount. ? Hood latch bars are the size of a 160 and someone has added a 180 cloisonn? badge to "dress it up" - both would be wrong for a 120 Also, listen to the speaker in the video, he sounds like a car salesman. Notice he says the hubcaps have a "klisteen" center when he means cloisonn?. Also notice that he says the prior owner, his buddy, owned numerous "collision shops" shops in New York and in Florida. Collision shops do not equal restoration shops and this would allow the owner to take some liberties. I recommend you get VERY familiar with what you are looking at and crawl inside and outside of that car taking a lot of pictures and asking questions before you start negotiating. There is a reason the seller posted those videos in November 2009 and the car is still available now. With that correct 1599 data plate you will be judged as a 120/junior car in PAC. If you try to get that car judged at the CCCA, then you will be turned away as they only accept 160/senior cars as "Full-Classic" status. Attach file: (7.65 KB) (24.55 KB)

My point was that the top lenses, which are unique to 1942, are correct.

Roger, the hub caps look similar, but are probably not the same. They're about 3/8ths of an inch wider than the 160/120 hub caps. Most people do not recognize that there is any difference. Hirsch reproduced a very small batch back in the 1980s.
The dash plastic on the car in question is for a 180 (no ribs at all). The faces of the speedometer and the clock, if you're trying to fake a 160/180, should be brass. Packard0820, as has been pointed out, this car has been tampered with. It is not a true 160, and wasn't faked very well, either. Although, the condition of the car in general appears to be very nice. I wouldn't pay much more than a 120 price for it, and most Packard fanatics probably wouldn't pay as much as a real 120.

Roger, the red clutch pedal is for the "Electro-matic" clutch system.

Actually, it is a 'Red' brake pedal. The first 'Easamatic'?
Nice car, but a fake. Would be better as a real One-Twenty as opposed to a made-up Senior car. There was a fake 1942 One-Sixty convertible at Salado a couple of meets ago. Like this one a most attractive automobile, but received the same kind of criticism as this one by the participants. You can't fool a fool. (o{}o)
