I use a very small screwdriver to work one side and then the other. It takes patience. Most Packard speed nuts are full circle with the two "ears" stamped out. I pry the ears away from the pins just enough to allow me to work them off. Save the rubber washers under the speednuts so that you can reuse them. Good luck.

Like Randy said but I also found the use of a scribe tool helpful. Sometimes the bent and sharply pointed end is easier to work under the tabs than a straight screwdriver. Sometimes it also helps to hold the end of the stud with some needlenose pliers while you are opening the retainer so as not to put any undue force on the stud.

Good advice HH - I also use a dental pick. Those pins break easily.
