I might be wrong about this, but the engine in that "tow" vechicle does not appear to me to be original. That's a blower on top of what looks like a big V-8! Even though this may be a sacrilige to purists, I've got to say that I kind of like it!

You can make a lot of really neat things from the parts left over after you rebuild your engine ...

No, no...this is a one-off Packard/Henney experimental vehicle, complete with V-8 and blower...

You ar right, Dan! That makes perfect sense! After all, it is an ambulance and ambulances are supposed to get to the scene of a wreck pretty quickly. I'd say a supercharger mounted atop a big block V-8 would certainly do the trick. In fact, this might just be the first on-the-road experimental vehicle used to test Packard's little-known 454 cid ohv engine, which was apparently rejected by Packard management only to be resurrected later by General Motors. Correct me if I'm wrong, Dan, but wasn't there a twin of this particular configuration used in Packard's abandoned attempt at cornering the teenage market with a factory sponsored top-fuel drag racer in late 1955?
