you might try slotting it first and use a horse shoe clip, seems to me Studebaker used that type I forget who said, to deepen groove ,, but do that too,,

That was a standard door handle tool in the 60, 70's and 80's for your window cranks. Check the auto parts stores. I think that they still have them.
