Has anyone used Sentra board to remake door panels in place of masonite?

Sentra is a plastic board used (among other things) for set building. Comes in a variety of colors and thicknesses and, unlike natural products, is water proof and unlikely to warp. Works with woodworking tools.

Looks good to me, but I bow to experience here.

I haven't used it but if it is plastic base one thing I would wonder about is how well it handles heat. The door panel is well anchored but even so is there any chance it would deform or bow if the car sat in the sun.

There are some guys on the HAMB who say they they have used it.

Sintra board is very stable at room temperature, but if it gets really hot it can warp. The manufacturer says it will melt at 150 degrees. But I'm thinking on a hot day, with the car windows rolled up, it can get 100 degrees pretty quick. I don't know if the board will start to soften and sag/warp at those temperatures.

I know when Sintra is used for exterior signage they usually use 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick materials to help prevent warping.

They actually make plastic door panel board. Check some of the upholstery supply websites to order it. NOT CHEAP.

Would be cheaper just to install a plastic sheeting moisture barrier, or as I did, a layer of butyl rubber/foil faced insulation. Sound deadening, moisture barrier, and insulator all in one.
