The Packard 1942-1962, by Nat Dawes, on page 141 has this picture. I bought the picture from Nat at the PAC Gettysburg meet. It does not tell the travel distance, but does give you a visual of the travel.

Measured at the rear fender the travel is ten inches, which is why the rear shocks should have about that much travel.
I've demonstrated this at many car cruises - never fails to astonish.
